hi, i'm
isaac.

I'm a full-stack software engineer at Synapse Social.

About me

I'm Isaac. I recently graduated from NYU with a double major in computer science and German studies. I'm currently a software engineer for Synapse Social, a startup focused on empowering researchers with modern technologies. I spend most of my free time playing volleyball, cooking, reading German plays, restoring antique lamps, or coding. Right now I'm reading Sebald's Schwindel. Gefühle. Some of my favorite German-language authors are Walter Benjamin, Henrik Ibsen (close enough), and W. G. Sebald, but I read lots of English books too.

Blog

I keep a blog. I might write about what I'm coding this week, the latest Ibsen play I'm rereading, or whatever's on my mind. Maybe some recipes, too. I'll try to update monthly or so, but depending on what I'm up to it could be more or less frequent. If you'd like to contact me about anything I write there, you'll find my information over on the contacts page. Here are some of my recent articles:

Portfolio

I'll be cataloging all my personal projects here too. You can find the exhaustive list on the portfolio page, or without comment on my GitHub. Here are some direct links to my most recent:

A Note About This Website

I built and continue to maintain this website with exclusively HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No frameworks, no templates, no static site generators - just a lot of trial and error, StackOverflow articles from 2007, and copy and pasting. Although I often use AI tools in my professional endeavors, I don't for this website.

It's something like a zen exercise for me. If you notice mistakes, please be patient - and feel free to let me know!
